There has been talk (perhaps hype would be a better word) about cloning a mammoth for at least the past decade.  The difficulties are enormous; there are great differences between cloning mouse tissue frozen for a brief time and cloning tissue that has been frozen for thousands of years.  It does, however make for great copy.....
