The Island Adventure with Capt. Jimmy at the helm ventured out twice
yesterday in search of Gray Whales. Totals for the two trips:
       9 Gray Whales
       800 Common Dolphins
The morning trip had approximately 30 passengers who experienced calm seas
and clear skies. About mid-channel we encountered a large pod of dolphins
who were moving extremely fast. We thought something (??) might be causing
them to move so rapidly, but after scanning the horizon behind them for
quite some time we were unable to located anything coming up from behind.
In the "Gap" near the west end of Anacapa we had 7 sightings of Gray's.
Passengers were treated to some very good looks as these whales appeared to
be trying to decide whether go behind or in front of the island.

About 35 passengers were on the pm trip. Absolutely no dolphins sighted.
We encountered 2 very shy and reclusive Gray's. Continued reports of Orcas
in the channel may have been the reason for the scarcity of dolphins.

Captain was assisted by DeeDee and Steve. Captain Lee Fleischer was aboard
in his role as a CINC naturalist.
