[CINC] Greetings

Greetings Naturalists,

As you know from attending the recent meeting and from Derek's e-mail, I am
now the park's representative to the naturalist corps and will be
overseeing the island hike portion of the program. This change will allow
Derek to focus on several projects that are vital to the future of the
park. While we will all miss his direct  involvement in the naturalist
corps, we look forward to what he will accomplish next.

I have had the pleasure of working with many of you when I was a volunteer
with the naturalist corps, and I'm looking forward to meeting and getting
to know the rest of you as I rejoin the group in my new role. I'm excited
to be "back home" and again involved in this aspect of interpreting the
park and sanctuary. I feel that Derek and Shauna's leadership of the
naturalist corps has been excellent and I plan to maintain a consistent
style of management.

The work you do as volunteers for the park and sanctuary has a huge impact
on the visitor experience. Additionally, it helps to create a greater
stewardship among the public which has a very positive impact on the
Channel Islands, their surrounding waters and the wildlife within. I have
experienced first-hand not only the value of what the naturalist corps
provides, but also the dedication and competency of the naturalists. As we
move forward into this new year I know we will continue to excel in our
mission while enjoying the fantastic adventures that come with being a
member of the Channel Islands Naturalists Corps.

Thank you all for your contributions to the group, your public service, and
the benefit you provide to Channel Islands National Park and Channel
Islands National Marine Sanctuary .
