5 Blue whales24 Humpback Whales
Hello Naturalists:
Captain Mat, Captain Dave and Mat were our fantastic crew for a wonderful day!!
We had a "whaleful" day out on the Channel. 20 Passengers from Turkey, Germany, England, Chicago and a lot of fellow Californians, enjoyed the trip. The fog cleared and sea conditions calmed even more as we got out further. It was a little bumpy for a few in the first half hour but even our two sick passengers were out enjoying the sunshine and the numerous whales by 11:30ish. 
By the time we got out 20 miles and heading to the Gap, there were whales everywhere. We had tail lobbing and some pec slaps by a lone humpback and a calf and cow pair of humpbacks and many others. The blue whales were both at this same location and in front of Painted Cave. We went to Painted Cave and then saw some more whales!!  
Don did a superb job of photo Id getting positive id photos of the numerous flukes of humpback whales.. Thanks,
