Ahoy again,
Aboard the Adventure yesterday to Scorpion, Pancho Mayoral from Baja California was aboard logging hours for an eventual captain's license. He is a kayak guide in San Ignacio Lagoon during the Gray Whale season. He said the official count in the lagoon this year for calves WAS THE SECOND HIGHEST ON RECORD! He reported 480-in 1985 he said 503 were counted. The count had dipped way down in the early 2,000s. Pancho said Scammond's Lagoon also reported their 2nd largest count, but he was not sure what it wast!
Capt. Dave and two of his crew, Jean and Patty, reported their own happy count for the day. While Joel was leading the hike at Prisoner's Harbor, they drifted for 2 hours amongst 3 feeding Blue Whales, and a female Humpback and her tag-along calf, within Sanctuary waters due north of Prisoners! May happy days continue! Paul
