Truth Aquatics trip June 14-16.
SMI is rich with blooms; dudlia, island buckwheat, morning glory and a host of other natives and endemics.
SRI torrey pines trail is in good shape. The iron wood trees are in full bloom. The pier is being worked on.
SCI Prisoners Harbor - at least one island jay and two fox.
Painted cave had a heavy swell rushing in so entry, even by skiff, was a challenge. We did not go all the way back!
Whales: six plus blues and humbacks by the dozen in all directions just off the west end of SCI. There was one group of seven humpbacks and another group of five or six that surfaced and dove together.
Diane Rennell was the other naturalist on this trip. We had a group of sixty sixth and seventh graders from a San Jose charter school. Also working with the students, teachers and parents was staff from NatureBridge.
