Researchers believe Flex is currently off central California, but cannot be sure because signals from the device fell silent on Friday [Feb 11]....Bruce Mate...with Russian colleagues, tagged Flex last fall in his summer feeding grounds in the Sea of Okhotsk... hopes Flex will be seen by one of the many whalewatchers and researchers who have his photograph — ideally, as he heads for his unknown destination, but, failing that, back at Sakhalin Island or along the Kamchatka Peninsula during the 2011 feeding season.
