Ahoy Corps Folks, The Double Dolphin got both trips off today before the rains came hard. At 11 a.m. Captain Mike went straight south from Hendry's Beach about three to four miles where a passenger from Carpinteria spotted three spots. We got good looks at 3 northbound Grays who showed us their flukes many times. No sea lions appeared on buoys, platforms , or breakwaters near the harbor since no sun was peaking through for any solar warm up what-so-ever. Two children aboard, ages 4 and 6, were disappointed about this. In or passengers numbering 12, we had Paris, Indonesia, Australia, and Finland represented! On the Captain Mike tried the same plan, going out a little farther, but we found nothing. This time deck hand Josh was much busier serving hot coffee and tea, as the temperature dipped some more, and it started to drizzle near the turn around point. No one complained, and all were happy about the rain check given to all. The sea lions were still in hiding. We did see in the distance straight south, as we approached the harbor, a line of dolphin splashing on the horizon that looked a half mile long. Strangely, no bird action at all. Our passengers numbered 17, including tourist from Estonia, Massachusetts, Las Vegas, Arizona, and Michigan.
