The Condor Express ran only the noon boat today with about 50 passengers.  I was
lucky enough to be on board.  We saw

5 Gray Whales (two sightings)
10-12 Dall's Porpoises

No rain (well, maybe a sprinkle)
Less chop and white caps than I expected

Fellow naturalists Hal Altman & John Kuizenga.

Captain Dave took us out ten miles to where the Condor had seen two friendly
humpbacks for the past two days.  On the way, we found a pod of Dall's Porpoises
that swam in our bow wave --- that was a great place to watch because you could
really see their coloring and movement underwater.  Later we found two grays,
one "submarining" and not giving any show at all except his blow and fluke
print.  We stayed with them awhile, and eventually had to head home.  On the
way, we got our reward.  Three grays frolicking.  It might have been a mating
group.  One whale kept rolling on its side and showing its pecs fins and even
underbelly.  We saw several flukes and had a really good show.   We got in a
half hour late but nobody complained!
