For the 900 and 1200 trips...

200 common dolphins
4 grays
2 humpbacks.

The 900 trip set out a few minutes late with about 80 junior high kids from Orcutt and about 20 other passengers. Fog hampered the effort of whale finding, but as usual, Capt. Mat headed into a clear area up the coast, past UCSB, and the Condor trailed 2 grays who swam slow and fluked several times. Earlier, about 200 Commons really pleased all the kids on board, maybe even more than the whales!

Then, on the 1200 trip Capt. Mat headed on a different course, covering lots of ocean and dodging the fog. And then, 2 Humps appeared, moving slowly, thinking about approaching the boat (one close pass...) and taking about 4-5 minute dives with good fluke exits from the surface.

Good to moderate sea conditions with fog moving about. England and Switzerland on board for both trips as well as some East Coasters, locals and SoCal folks too.

Thanks to Capt.Mat and crew for 2 great excursions into the channel and to Hal A. (PID) and
Bob W. for interpretive services!
