5 Humpbacks including one calf/juvenile
1 Blue
numerous sea lions
sooty shearwaters
western gulls
brown pelicans
1 juvenile night heron on shore (identified by Mat)
lots of wind and waves

Although Capt. Mat professionally alerted all passengers to the possibility of
turbulent seas, all came aboard for the adventure. Calm seas for a short while
followed by windy choppy conditions. Thankfully Mat's keen sight and diligence
found the cetaceans. First we stayed with a pair, probably a cow calf
combination, for a lengthy while. Then another twosome were sighted followed by
a solo. We were told from the fly bridge that there was a blue in the distance
but it's 13 plus minute dive didn't leave us enough time to pursue it. All but
a few aboard from Ireland, England, Australia, the Netherlands, Salt Lake City
and nearer by braved the rough seas and enjoyed the trip without ill effects.

Today's question is:
How deep can a cormorant dive?

CINCers Deb Clark, Ginny Fischer, Hal Altman PID, along with CX crew Capt. Mat,
Dennis and Matt.
