Corps Folks,
Thanks loads to David Chubb for the GREAT follow up to our fantastic overview of island plants on ESCI last week! Who did the video and programming to You Tube?
Another recent positive media coverage of one of our islands of the CINP was an article in the Santa Barbara News-Press Saturday the 28th; "Trail Quest: Anacapa Island" by James Wapotich. James does not mention who gave him a guided tour, but it is obvious that person was trained well in our scripted hike! James takes care in stressing to hikers to stay to the trails as the "Western" Gulls and their soon to be wandering hatchlings "were there first." Pinniped Point, Cathedral Point, and Inspiration Point are all highlighted, as are the sea lions, the Giant Coreopsis, and the historic lighthouse and complex. Sadly, missing is any mention of the vast kelp forests and the Marine Protected Areas which should guide a visitor's focus to the unseen underwater ecosystem which worldwide actually dwarfs the terrestrial ones.
IPCO and the CI National Park get great coverage via reservation info. Keep on Truckin (and Swimmin), Paul.
