A.M. trip
Sightings: 2 grays traveling slowly
200 dolphins playing around the boat
Passengers were from San Luis Obispo, Los Angeles, Truckee, Thousand
Oaks, Oxnard, Temucla and Idaho.
The grays stayed on the surface for about 30 minutes, much to the
delight of everyone aboard. The dolphins were crowd-pleasers, as
usual. We visited Anacapa and passengers were impressed with Captain
Jason's close approach to the landing platform, as well as the close
look at arch rock and the back of the island with its usual bevies of
sea lions.
P.M. trip
Sightings: 3 grays traveling slowly
150 common dolphins who followed the boat back to the harbor
Passengers were from Tulare, Tahoe, Moorpark, Moranga, Las Vegas,
Chattanooga, Indiana, Georgia, Illinois, London and Germany.
There were many birders on board. One couple from Chicago was very
impressed with the variety of birds in the area, entering at least 30
first-time sightings in their book. We followed the grays for 45
minutes with many shows of flukes, supplying many photo ops to the
photographers. Captain Jason found a group of dolphins which
followed us to the breakwater for a perfect ending to an perfect day.
Thanks to Captain Anthony, Dani, Luke
