I am forwarding this message from Cascadia about this topic
Yes there is growing indication of behavioral response to sonar resulting
in decompression related injury being the likely mechanism of injury to
deep diving marine mammals like beaked whale that have stranded associated
with Navy exercises. We have not had direct indication of these types o
strandings in S California although our recent studies on behavioral
response have indicated that a variety of species including blue whales do
react to fairly low received levels of sonar sounds. See SOCAL-BRS
