Ahoy Insect People,
Here it is, from 2008 via Derek from Warren Savary of the California Academy of Sciences! Paul
Greetings, Hikers!
Derek sends the following information about the scorpion species found on Santa Cruz Island. This is the only information I have.

Tim,

Thanks again for your assistance with the permit for Santa Cruz Island.
What a wonderful place! The endemic species, Pseudouroctonus minimus
thompsoni (which I will likely recognize as a distinct species rather than
as a subspecies of P. minimus) is there in great abundance, and it took
very little time for us to collect the needed series...under the
supervision of a group of curious Island Foxes, I might add. We didn't
see any other scorpion species, and judging from the density of the P. m.
thompsoni population, and its occurrence in most habitat types that we
examined, I suspect it is the sole scorpion inhabitant of the area. I'll
put together a report as soon as I have a chance.

Meanwhile, I've attached an uncaptioned and a captioned image of P. m.
thompsoni that you are welcome to use. The resolution is likely
satisfactory for inclusion on a web page, and if you need higher
resolution for prints, I can send a much larger file on a CD.

Thanks again,
