Whales in pairs and one group of three blues, in an ocean teeming with bait fish, krill, dolphins, & sea lions, all apparently getting their fill.  Capt. Matt  went straight to the ledge off Santa Rosa Island  and we were surrounded by whales, both close and at a distance.  We were joined by Chuck Rennie and Eric Zimmerman for this trip, an added bonus !  We had time for a cruise by Santa Cruz I. and a peek into 
Painted Cave before returning to the harbor.  Debra Fedeleo and Susan Kline
were the popular naturalists and the usual variety of local and foreign whale-
