[CINC] CINMS and Chumash/ SantaBarbara Film Festival

Hi Paul,

Thanks for bringing our attention to the movie *Santa Barbara and the Sea*.
I am sorry to have missed the showing at the Santa Barbara International
Film Festival.

However, I wanted to also take this opportunity to share with you a SBIFF
film I saw late last week called *Minds in the Water*.  This film is the
story of one surfer's international journey to help protect dolphins,
whales and their ocean environment.  It is 90 minutes long and will play
again at the Metro 4 theater on Saturday, Feb. 4.  I was surprised by the
local resources that were featured in this film.  For example, Wishtoyo,
the Chumash Discovery Village in Malibu is featured with Mati Waiya
retelling the story of the Rainbow Bridge.  It also has a small feature on
local artist Peggy Oki and her origami whales project that documents how
many whales have been killed worldwide (over 36,000) since the moratorium
on whaling went into effect in 1986.

Also, just a reminder about Bob Talbot's film, *Otter 501* will make its
world premiere on Thursday, Feb. 2 at 4 pm at Metro 4 theaters.  It will
also show on Feb. 4 at 8 am and Feb. 5 at 2 pm both at the Metro 4 theaters.
