[CINC] CINC New Year Reminders

Dear CINC Volunteers:

I hope you are all enjoying the new year and the start of the gray whale
watch season! I just returned from Maui where I went on a whale watch tour.
It was great to see the humpback whales in Hawaii, however, it just did not
feel the same without a CINC volunteer naturalist on board! I am so
appreciative of your dedication and support for the sanctuary, park, and
our local fleet of boat operators.

We look forward to having all hands on deck this spring to help cover the
busy boat schedules during the northbound gray whale migration and at our
upcoming outreach events. We still need additional sign-ups for the Sea
Center Underwater Parks Day event on January 21st. Please go directly to
Volunteer Spot if you are interested.

Thank you for your responses to our Channel Islands Naturalist Corps online
survey and 2012 participation form. As a reminder if we do not hear back
from you by the end of January you will no longer be able to sign-up for
trips starting in February. You will receive an individual email reminder
before the end of the month if we have *not* heard from you (over 100 of
you *have* already replied [?]

*CINC February In-Service Meeting:*
Our first CINC In-Service volunteer meeting will be held on *Wednesday,
February 8, 2012* at 6:30 pm at the Channel Islands National Park visitor
center auditorium in Ventura. Dr. Charles Rennie will be our featured
speaker and he will provide us with an update and status report on marine
mammals in the Southern California Bight.
