the day was beautiful with unexpectedly calm waters and mostly clear skies. Captain Dave took us out to the Anacapa passage where we saw a number of grey whale blows. We were able to see at least 6 separate whales who delighted passengers with a number of tail flukes and dives. Numerous birds were all around, as was a pod of about 10 Rissos Dolphins. About 60 passengers from China, India, Wisconsin, Michigan and primarily Southern California areas were thrilled with the trip around Anacapa Island with views of California Sea Lions and a stop near the Arch. Captain Dave did a terrific job of narrating the entire trip for passengers, and crew Steve and Laurie made sure everyone was comfortable. We returned just at sunset and were treated not only to a lovely colored sky over the ocean but also a huge, full moon over the harbor. It doesn't get much better than this...
I was the lone naturalist on this trip.

NOTE TO NATURALISTS: I left a note for Lisa at IPCO but there were no blank sighting report sheets so I had to improvise.
