Catherine French and I accompanied about 35 visitors to Anacapa today. The IPCo
crew included Cpt. Jason and crew Josh and Amanda
On the way out we encountered a mega pod of about 1500 common dolphin which gave
the visitors a good show.
Even though the day became overcast there were a lot of hikers who asked many
great questions and were obviously engaged by Catherine's narrative. There were
four youngsters with the group, who were sworn into the Junior Ranger Program.
On the way back the boat circled around to arch rock and slightly to the South
of the island so visitors could get a view of the sea lions hauled out on the
rocks. Then word came that one of the other IPCo boats had spotted two gray
whales not far away so Capt. Jason motored over to give our passengers a look at
them also.
Even though the day was overcast the seas were relatively calm and the visitors
enjoyed their time on the boat and island.
