Just the facts in order of appearance...
50 Common Dolphins
1 Gray
2 pairs of Grays
Hundred of Rissos, very spread out
2 Grays
2 Grays
So, we were rarely without something to look at! Except for the Commons, most sightings were in the SRI SCI notch. The first Gray was quite shy, so not much time was spent with it, especially since numerous spouts appeared ahead. Two pairs were tracked for a bit; one pair was more of a distance from the boat. Then, lots of birds and the Rissos all about with some groups fairly close to the boat. Then, another pair of Grays that really appeared to be a mother & calf pair! The final pair of Grays was sighted on the way to Painted Cave.
Forty-two passengers from all over... Belgium, Denmark, UK, Florida, and locals from Santa Ynez, Huntington Beach, Carpinteria and Santa Barbara. Expert crewing courtesy of Capt. Dave, Denis and Matt. Naturalists on duty... Tara Brown and Debbie Fedeleo with yours truly on the camera. Sunny, little wind, flat sea and great visibility lasted the entire day out there, much to the enjoyment of all.
