It is a fantastic full length feature that researches and chronicles not just Santa Barbara's unique relationship with the ocean: It just as much explores the Santa Barbara Channel, the Channel Islands, our Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary (and its  origin), and the relationship various maritime people have had with all these locales for over 13,000 years. Chumash Elder Julie Tumamait is interviewed extensively , as are historic individuals from the fishing and undersea exploration industries, plus marine scientist as well as famous surfers; and our own Laurie Francis! Laurie speaks a lot at the end, and the concluding consensus and message given is that Santa Barbara  environmentalist, fisher people, and scientist are showing the way to  treat our ocean resources in the manner that they require to sustain all that lives in the ocean and next to it. It is a must see film!  A full house at the SB Museum of Art gave its producers a well deserved applause.
