Saturday fellow CINC volunteers Warren Glaser, Drew Pickard, Tamara Thompson and myself manned the Park Service and Marine Sanctuary table at the annual Ty Warner Sea Center Earth Day celebration. We had a lot of Warren's "kids tub" items out including stuffed whales, eagles, and puzzles, as well as some of my kids Zoo Books on marine animals and birds. Many of the kids were quite young, so the puzzles were a big hit. During the afternoon shift, Tamara and I stamped whales tails on all the kids who passed by, and one group of little girls put their hands together and had a picture taken of their stamps! We were right across from the sea star and octopus, as well as the touch tank, so there were many kids passing by. We wore our red hats in honor of Jacque Cousteau. As always, we were amazed at how much kids know about whales and dolphins and we handed out a few posters to those who "earned" them by asking good questions or demonstrating a good knowledge of the ocean and the animals. The day ended with a group of 20 Brownies (miniature Girl Scouts!!) trying to earn posters!!
Fun day with great kids!
