Captain Mat piloted the boat south toward Santa Cruz Island. It soon
became apparent that the wind and waves were more intense than
predicted. He headed east hoping to find some sign of whales, but
found only spots of krill on the surface. He kept the passengers
informed of what was happening, gave the history of the islands and
talked about the flora and fauna. We continued east to Carpenteria,
where we paralleled the coast to Santa Barbara. Again, the
commentary kept all intrigued as we got an up close and personal view
of the coast along the way. Passengers were disappointed that we saw
no whales or dolphins, but were understanding of the conditions and
looking forward to their next trip.

Thanks to Captain Matt, Dave and Kelly their professional services.
