Thanks Marty: To all following this,
Upon further research of my photos, etc, I must correct the time line of my Nature Conservancy fence building on SCI. It was 1984-1987. Carey Stanton was still alive, and issues had developed between him and the TNC about the eradication of the feral sheep on his 4/5ths of the island. These issues included Carey Stanton's desire to see perpetual hunting of sheep remain. By June of 1989 the TNC sheep eradication program resulted in the shooting of a total of 31,871 sheep. Remember, these numbers include those that roamed the Prisoners Harbor to Potato Harbor part of the island, north to south, that is now part of the CINP. Carey Stanton died in late 1987. His will included the transfer of all assets of the Santa Cruz Island Company to the Nature Conservancy. See John Gherini's Santa Cruz Island pp 172-179. Paul

"With all these assertions about us going out there and killing all these lambs and everything, there's been a huge groundswell of public support to relocate and adopt the sheep.
