Blues galore!
As soon as we arrived at the viewing area along the ledge North of Santa Cruz, we were surrounded by spouts. Cpt. Dave gave the passengers great views of ten blues. There was one who kept fluking when he dove, but he did it sort of lopsided so the left part of the fluke was out of the water, but the right side sometimes didn't surface. (Maybe some of you will see him/her and recognize him/her by this behavior.) We also found one humpback. In addition we saw a pod of about 40 -50 common dolphin. The trip continued with great commentary by Cpt. Dave along the North side of Santa Cruz, going a short way into painted cave, looking at sea lions and harbor seals hauled out on the beach and then around the South side of Anacapa, and back to the harbor.
The approximately 50 passengers from Finland, Russia, Michigan and other states along with CA residents had a great time thanks to Cpt. Dave and crew members Paige and Steve. Accompanying me was naturalist Sally N.
