3 Blues
3 Humps
2500 Commons !
.
Capt. Dave took the Condor and its approximately 70 passengers to the west end of Santa Cruz, through Beaufort 4+ seas and a fresh wind. The first pod of commons was widely spread, 700ish animals. Conditions became more exciting before the Condor turned to the east. Shortly thereafter, the Condor was on top of a real megapod of commons... 2000 plus! Very dramatic indeed! Then, the spouts appeared... Blues and Humpbacks. Passengers had good views of 3 Humpbacks, including flukes and a nice tail slap before moving on to the Blues. Two mature Blues swimming together moved quickly by the Condor. Another Blue put in a brief appearance.
Passengers from Florida, L.A., Germany, England and elsewhere. Crew... Capt. Dave, Denis and Matt. Also on board... Bob Perry who will have his photos available tomorrow. Volunteers were Ginny, Rosa and yours truly on PID. All in all, great sightings and some excitement provided by the bubbling sea.
