Sightings: 4 gray whales, 2 different pairs moving slowly
2 groups of dolphins, both short and long beaked, total about 150
We had a full cloud cover with lots of dampness as we headed toward
Santa Cruz. We encountered two pair of grays traveling separately at
different times. The crowd was thrilled with actually seeing the
whales. Captain Anthony took us from Frenchy's Cove to the arch with
Dani giving a great narrative about the island. On the return trip
we encountered the dolphins to the excitement of everyone on board.
The passengers were happy to see the whales, but thrilled with the
dolphins.
The boat was full of interested passengers from West Virginia,
Arizona, Southern California, and a fourth grade class from Pine
Crest School in
Thousand Oaks.
Thanks to Captain Anthony, Dani and Greg for another great day on the
water.
