Live broadcasts from the 8th California Islands Symposium will be available
on Channel Islands National Park’s website from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm on
Thursday, October 25, 2012. Scroll down to Live Hike at
http://www.nps.gov/chis/planyourvisit/live-programs.htm

Due to great interest in the Lone Woman of San Nicolas Island (SNI), all
fourteen presentations on SNI archeology, including exciting recent
discoveries, will be available for live viewing.

These presentations will be of interest to history, archeology, and
anthropology classes. The park also expects viewers to include teachers,
students, and the general public due to the popularity of Island of the
Blue Dolphins, an award-winning piece of historical fiction based on this
woman’s story.

Steven Schwartz, US Navy archeologist on SNI, will also be presenting a
talk on The Search for the Lost Indian Cave on San Nicolas Island at the
park visitor center on Wednesday, November 14 at 7 pm as part of the park’s
>From Shore to Sea lecture series.

All these presentations will also be archived on the park’s website for
future viewing.

These broadcasts are part of Channel Islands Live, an educational
partnership between the National Park Service and Ventura County Office of
Education.
