It was a bumpy ride out to AI this morning but a beautiful day on the island. 10 hikers accompanied me on the guided hike. The colors at inspiration point were muted by fog but still a million dollar view. A huge class from a Bonaventure school in Huntington Beach was also on the island for the day. It is very quiet out there now, very few birds, dormant coreopsis and no more wildflowers. Several of us sat a while talking and watching a couple of sea lions bobbing and floating in the kelp at Cathedral Cove. Very relaxing day, the hikers were from Utah, Simi Valley, China and Los Angeles by way of New York and Toronto. Topping off the trip we encountered a buffet in the sea; commons, sea lions and all sorts of birds feeding on bait just below the surface. I was hoping for a humpie to lunge through the middle, but not today.
