A.M. Sightings
4 gray whales
1 Mola Mola
1500 Common Dolphins

We got a great look at a lone Mola Mola in clear water. We next came upon four gray whales exhibiting slow travel with several shows of flukes. The dolphins were the grand finale to the morning trip. Happy passengers, naturalists and crew.

P.M. Sightings
1 small lone gray whale
2 adult gray whales
2 Humpbacks, Cow and Calf pair

We encountered a small gray whale traveling slowly, then came upon two more grays. We visited Anacapa and passengers were thrilled with the close look at the island and the sea life. Then we had a long look at cow-calf pair of humpbacks. Mother appeared to be teaching her calf. We had many views of flukes and one breach by the baby.

Happy passengers were from all over California, and one couple from Austria who had seen no whales on their whale watch in Newport and decided to stop by Oxnard for another try before they left the USA. Now they know where to go whale watching on their next visit!

Thanks to Captain Anthony, Pancho and James for a terrific day.

Rose Messina, Gail Turner-Graham
