April 2, TuesdayChannel Islands Sport Fishing - Ranger 85 About 100 Common Dolphins a mile or so SE of the CI Harbor entranceOne elusive Gray about two miles SW of the harbor entranceAnother elusive Gray headed west near platform GailONE BLUE WHALE in 75 feet of water about three miles SW of harbor entrance The Blue was not our largest Blue, probably 65 ft. long. S/he was moving westerly.I think it unusual to have a Blue in such shallow water so close to shore. We could not get any photo ID type pictures. The swell was enough to give a third of our thirty-five or so passengers good cases of "mal de mar" but seeing the blue whale cured most of them.We had visitors from Russia, a family from China, and US citizens from Wis., Minnesota, and all about Calif.. Thanks to Capt. Justin and his crew for the open and friendly welcome aboard.Bill Weinerth
