3 mother/calf pairs
One lone juvenile
~30 common dolphins
Several bottle nose dolphins
Lots of diving terns

A very fine day on the Double Dolphin on the pm trip. 2 mother calf pairs
were spotted on the edges of the kelp beds just offshore of Shoreline Park.
These 4 whales didn't seem to be in a hurry, they cavorted around on either
side of the kelp beds for almost an hour. One calf did at least a dozen spy
hops, lots of pec slaps too. The water depth there is only about 20', I
wonder if the adults were teaching the calves how to bottom feed in an easy
area?? (rampant speculation) Another mother/calf pair passed through the
area without pausing. All the dolphins were seen off Leadbetter on the way
back in. Fun and informative commentary by Capt Tyler and deckhand Colton.
(I had to miss the am trip at the very last minute, too late to post to rain
list; but Capt. Tyler reported 2 mother/calf pairs off More Mesa beach for
that trip)
