Thank you to those of you that have signed up on VolunteerSpot to assist
with the *Santa Barbara Harbor's Operation Clean Sweep* *on May 4th* - we
will see you Saturday and if anyone else is available please join us!

On Saturday, May 4th from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon, the Santa Barbara
Waterfront Department will host its seventh annual "Operation Clean Sweep"
to remove debris from the harbor seafloor. You are invited to come on down
and help out at this fun and important event, joining sanctuary staff and
Channel Islands Naturalist Corps volunteers.

Volunteers can provide dock support topside as divers retrieve sunken
debris from the harbor bottom. This year the target area will be the dock
fingers "I" through "K" in Marina One. The Waterfront Department will
generously provide donuts, coffee and lunch.

This has been a very productive program. According to the Waterfront
Department, "last year over 40 volunteers removed a record 3,200 pounds of
seafloor junk from beneath fingers E through H in Marina One. That brought
the project total to 21,200 pounds, with four years to go in the first
“circumnavigation” of the harbor seafloor"(
