AM Trip:
600 Common
Dolphins
5 Gray
whales
PM Trip:
15
Bottlenose dolphins
5 Gray
whales
Both trips
were full of passengers who enjoyed a wonderful day in the Santa Barbara
channel.   Captain Frank and the crew of
Paul, Edward and Chris fulfilled the dreams of many on board by finding pods of
dolphins and wonderful Gray whale sightings.   One lady had been on several whale watch
trips and had never seen a whale.  She
was ecstatic!
The AM
trip saw about 600 Common dolphins, a possible sighting of a large (Blue or
Fin) whale.  On our return to the harbor we
saw 5 Gray whales.  Two mother/ calf
pairs and another juvenile whale.
The PM trip saw the 5 Gray whale group
again, as they continued their northward journey.  We followed them for over 30 minutes, as they
breached, spy-hopped and apparently fed, just off-shore from the Mandalay
GenOn  power station.  As we returned to the harbor, we saw two pods
of Bottlenose dolphins.  Several
families, with 5 – 8 year old children were on board and the kids learned about
whales in school.  It was very special
for them to see the whales in their natural environment.
