9 Gray Whales
(5 adults, 4 calves)
10 Bottlenose dolphins
Lovely day out!
Even with the overcast weather, the Dolphin embarked in the morning with
2 local guest, and within the half hour we came upon a cow/calf pair close
to shore.
Though they were a little shy, we hung out with them for over an hour as
they
moved west along the kelp beds.
The afternoon trip brought several out of towners, including a lovely pair
from
London & a family from Louisiana. The morning pair was out of reach, but
again
within the half hour we were on a cow/calf pair. We stayed with this shy
duo up to
Hendry's Beach, with a brief sighting of a solitary adult, then, as we
turned back, a
group of 10 bottlenose dolphins joined us to ride the bow wave. Everyone
was on
the bow railing as we listened to their calls to one another! As the
dolphins left, we
came upon 2 cow/calf pairs that the Condor had seen earlier. All this fun,
and the
sun came out to join us!
Thank you captain Kyle & first mate Colton for a wonderful day on the water!
