There were only two day visitors so I asked them if I could hike with them.  They were a young couple just going off to separate colleges --- on in Environmental Studies and Zoology.   It was a nice informal conversation about the islands rather than the formal script I usually do with a larger group.   We did the Cherry Canyon Loop while Jean from IPCO ran Lobo Canyon (9 miles strenuous!)  After we found the Pigmy Mammoth bone on Water Canyon Beach, I gave them their alone time. 
 
It was special to meet the three candidates for CSU Field Station Manager. CSU Channel Islands and the Channel Islands National Park Service are upgrading the bunk house for undergraduates in archaeology and resource management.  The first class is planned for next spring. 
 
On the way back, I handed out NPS surveys to all the paying visitors.
