We saw a gray whale on 7\5 right outside the SB harbor. Weird. Bob Perry took pictures of it.
Could it be the same whale?

1 GRAY WHALE
2 HUMPBACK WHALES
500 COMMON DOLPHINS
2 BLUE WHALES + 3 MORE IN DISTANCE
20 RISSO'S DOLPHINS
4 OFF-SHORE BOTTLENOSE DOLPHINS

NOTEWORTHY:  Just when we thought the last Gray Whale migrated sometime in May, we spotted one right outside the harbor, pretty much in the same proximity of the 2 Humpbacks.  Four Kayakers, smiling away, were dangerously close to the Humpbacks, perhaps 30 feet away.  Also at the scene were many California Brown Pelicans and Sooty Sheerwaters...  It's unusual to see Rissos hanging out with Off-Shore Bottlenose Dolphins, but that's exactly what we saw--very close to the entrance to Painted Cave.

Excellent spotting by Capt. Mat and Eric, as always.  I was joined by Debbie Shelley, one of three remaining members of my 2005 training pod, and Ralph Daniel.

ENJOYING LIFE,
