1 humpback
2000 dolphins
1 mola mola
15 rissos dolphins
Gazillions of birds
Another beautiful day on the water. We had about 120 enthusiastic
passengers from Canada, France, England, Sweden, Italy and Mississippi!
On the way out about 1 1/2 miles out still in shallow water we saw a
lone humpback and stayed with it for awhile.
We saw a magapod of dolphins also on the way out but also saw many smaller
groups of common dolphins through out the day.
We saw the mola mola near the west end of Santa Cruz.
Captain mike did a great narration and was assisted by Laurie and Joel.
A juvenile brown pelican startled passengers on the bow by lunching over
their heads and landing on the railing, facing away from the water. Cinc
naturalist Carolyn mccleskey is my hero!! She put one arm over the pelican
and grabbed its feet while holding its beak with the other hand and carried
it to the outer railing where it took off. Yeah Carolyn!
It was a great day to be out in the channel.
