Had a nice day out on the Island Explorer. Calm seas and it didn't take long until we spotted our first cetaceans.

Not far out we encountered a small group of common dolphins feeding. A bit father out still within sight of the mainland and we came upon a large (500 - 1000) common dolphins feeding with quite a few juveniles.

Still hadn't crossed the channel when we encountered two humpback whales one in the far distance and another we could approach and the passengers got some great looks as it dove and showed its flukes a number of times.

Finally off to the Islands and there we encountered two Dall's porpoises which were there and then gone. We followed that sighting with around 10 -15 Risso's dolphins which gave a display of some breaches.

Onto Santa Cruz Island and there we got to see one bald eagle resting on a rock outcropping.

Visited Painted Cave and then to Prisoners to pick up campers etc.

A very good day!! Visitors were from all over. UK, Arizona, California and Pennsylvania.

Excellent crew with Capt. Jimmy, Jean and Matt along with my naturalist partner Dean Benjamin.
