AM Trip:
220 Common dolphins
PM Trip:
200 Common dolphins
6 Humpbacks
Captain Frank and crew Paul, Jason and Edward spotted several pods of dolphins on the AM trip. The full boat of passengers enjoyed calm seas and light winds. We traveled along the north coast of Anacapa and saw several California sea lions and Harbor seals as well as many Cormorants, Pelicans, Seagulls and Oystercatchers. Everyone enjoyed the dolphin shows.
On the PM trip, Captain Frank headed out toward Oil Rig Gail and spotted a surface feeding frenzy, which attracted several hundred Common dolphins, seabirds and at least 6 Humpbacks. We were completely surrounded by dolphins and whales for over 45 minutes. Everyone was taking pictures and expressing delight as the Humpbacks breached, showed their flukes and continued to lunge feed. Captain Frank’s excellent narration and enthusiasm made this another great day in the Santa Barbara channel.
