IPCO Islander 3/12/13
Anacapa Island Trip

1 Gray Whale (reported by hikers, I did not see)
1 Stellar Sea Lion (on Ventura Harbor buoy)
5 Common Dolphin
1 Anacapa Side Blocthed Lizard (I think, it was by the campground)
1 Sage Trashier (seen by Carolyn Greene. This one not seen before.)

I chose this trip because I knew Steve Junak was leading a trip for the Santa Barbara Botanical Gardens the same day, and I planned to catch up with them after I led my hike. Turns out there several CINC volunteers on the island.
* Debbie Fedaleo shadowed by hike of 22 people, all from the US
* Kathy deWet-Oelson lead part of the group of 32 Road Scholars, which is the renamed Elder Hostel group. By the way, Kathy is the on who put together the incredible resource we have of Anacapa plants in the spring. (My attachment did not go through - email me if you want a copy. I could not find it on the Sky Drive.)
* Carolyn Greene researching terrestrial birds and
* Paul Petrich who just wanted to update his skills, and be with me?
* Me = Tara Brown.

The hills were alive with Giant Coreopsis, and we saw Goldfields, Red/Indian Paint Brush, Yellow and White Yarrow, Fern Leaf Phaceliea, Sand Spurrey, Island Morning Glory, Malva and Malva Rose in bloom.

Thank you captain Dave, Steve and Michael for a great trip!

P.S. Captain Dave announced that the Anacapa Arch has recently been renamed the "Cabrillo Arch."
