Ahoy Colleagues,
My hike trip to Scorpion yesterday via the Island Adventure, was highlighted by IPCO's grand christening of their new catamaran, the Island Explorer soon after our return! The entire Connally family was on hand and hosting visitors aboard the Islander prior to the christening at 5:30. There was a lot of joyous his and herstory shared about the 45 year brainchild created by the late Bill Conally that connected local mainlanders to our Channel Islands. Food from local restaurants was aplenty, as were good wine and juice. Champagne became to beverage of choice with the actual christening by Mrs. Conally, the matriarch of the family, The crews and skippers of IPCO were honored as well at the time: all aboard their shinny new member of the Island Packers fleet! She has the same capacity of the other cats, but extra spaciousness aboard for the needs of passengers and crew is immediately obvious.
Lolla Lynch , who handled the VC, and Jim Graves, who led the Road's Scholars hike on the island, were joining in the festivities as well. Don Mills was on hand as well, but rumors that he helped engineer and build this new addition to enhancing the Channel Islands National Park and Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary experience for all are not true.
Remember One and All. Our annual CINC Rincon Park Sunset Picnic is coming on June 4th. Be there or be square! Details soon. Paul
