9 am:
Gray Whale Cow/Calf pair
2 Humpbacks
150 Common Dolphins
12 Noon:
Gray Whale Cow/Calf pair (same pair from the 9am trip)
2 Humpbacks (different ones from the 9am trip)
Small group of Common Dolphins
Noteworthy items: This was the first time this season that Grays and
Humpbacks were seen on the same trip on the Condor; the Gray Whale calf did
some spyhopping; the pm Humpbacks breached and were quite active; since the
Common Dolphins had very sharp, crisp and distinct markings between the
white and dark areas, my guess is that they were Short Beaked Commons.
*I asked Capt. Dave about the date when the schedule goes back to just one
"10am-2:30" trip per day, and he said it's definitely MAY 13. Of course,
it still makes sense to confirm all trip schedules.*
I was joined by Debbie Shelley and Roberta Soto. Excellent spotting by
Capt. Dave and Mike. Brooke tended the galley.
ENJOYING LIFE,
