The boat to Anacapa Island was a full load with a large group from Cabrillo
Museum, Outward Bound High School group from John Muir HS Pasadena area and
the day trippers (Lisa from IPCO handled day folks!!!). The seas were gentle
on us (Dick and I both watched forecasts all week)! Dick and I had a nice
walkabout with the students, noted many nest with 2-3 eggs. Dick saw one
dead chick and my group one live chick (upper loop). It still is a bit
quiet compared to other years per location of nests and behaviors (no dive
bombing near campground yet). The campground was very full (with human
campers)!!! One very new nest location near shade house right next to
outside table.

The school group was awesome, engaged in what they were doing and had lots
of questions. Some watered, some pulled crystalline ice plant near radio
tower. Aaron helped direct us from CIR.

Dick and I were more than thrilled to be a part of these students' first
trip to the islands (and I personally hope they all come again).

Cheers k.
