[CINC] 05/19/13 Coral Seas - Channel Islands Seafari

AM Trip:
400 Common
dolphins
2 Stellar

PM Trip:  Cancelled
Captain Alex
and crew Tanner took about 50 passengers out toward Anacapa Island for the AM
trip.  He spotted about 100 Common
dolphins feeding 2 miles offshore.  Another pod of about 100 dolphins crossed our path about 9 miles
out.  We went into Frenchy’s Cove and
pointed out all of the California Brown pelicans nesting along the
hillside.  We went around to the south
side of Anacapa and saw hundreds of California sea lions and at least 2 Stellar
sea lions.  On the return trip we
encountered another pod of about 200 dolphins that surrounded the boat and
followed us for several miles.  Everyone
enjoyed the dolphin shows and a beautiful warm sunny day on the Santa Barbara
Chanel.  The PM trip was cancelled due to
the forecast for high winds and 7-9’ seas in the afternoon.
