Captain Scott took us out to sea off Coal Oil Point looking for humpbacks seen on previous days. Seeing nothing we moved on out to the West End of Santa Cruz and cruised East and West until turning for home. Still no whales. About 8 miles out of the harbor, however, we came upon a single, adult, female Humpback feeding among a large number of Common Dolphin (500+). This brought a very quiet and not very happy crowd of passengers to life as we watched the Humpback for a good time surrounded by the many Dolphin. Everyone enjoyed the excitement. We headed into port only slightly late. A great trip with a terrific crew.
