5 Humpback whales
1 Minke ( off in the distance)
3 pods of dolphins
Captain Dave, along with Tasha and Eric continued the recent activity and traveled westward just off the coastline toward Ventura. Our twenty-two visitors all came from the Golden Princess cruise ship.
They came from California, Arizona, Utah and Arkansas and all had a spectacular day.
Our first sighting was a group of 200 common dolphins. This was followed by two extended "feeding frenzies" that lasted for about 45 mins. each. Captain Dave pointed out the school of sardines that was causing the birds to swarm from above and drew seals, dolphins and the humpbacks into our viewing area. Seas were calm and it made for a special day for all.
Tara Brown and I were the naturalists for the day.
