us for an ORIENTATION MEETING on Thursday, September 4, 2008 at 2 pm </span></b><span
style='font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"'>to learn more about<b> </b>the
8-week docent training program, beginning September 9<sup>th</sup>. Incoming
docents receive comprehensive training on museum exhibits as well as current
maritime issues, preparing them to lead tours and present outreach programs.
The training covers all aspects of the region’s rich maritime history
from ancient seafaring Chumash to modern-day deep sea research, encompassing
ship wrecks, oil exploration, naval military history, environmental efforts and
more. The sessions are taught by a variety of local maritime experts and
include insightful fieldtrips, such as a tour of the natural gas and oil seeps
aboard the <i>Condor Express</i>.</span><o:p></o:p></p>

opportunities include working on youth & education programs, helping in the
