The
trip back is an adventure as well, with a short detour around
the Anacapa arches at the far eastern tip of the island to visit
a sea lion rookery and huge swells on the way back. I wonder
at what difference this trip has made for the students who came
on it. Most of them live in San Bernardino, and as a result,
have very little access to the ocean. I look forward to hearing
from them in the future, to see what their journal entrees will
have in them, and what, if any, difference it makes for the teachers.
What I leave with are the memories of
a very special and beautiful place, one that we must take care
of to make sure it stays this way. Also I remember the images,
a few of which I have shared with you here.
